AhlulBayt News Agency: A dual citizen of the United States and Germany has been arrested for allegedly attempting to attack a branch office of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv with Molotov cocktails, according to federal prosecutors in New York.
According to Mehr, Israeli authorities deported the suspect, identified as Joseph Neumeyer, to New York on Saturday, where he made his initial court appearance before a federal judge in Brooklyn on Sunday. His criminal complaint was unsealed the same day.
Prosecutors allege that on May 19, Neumeyer approached the embassy building carrying a backpack filled with Molotov cocktails. He reportedly got into an altercation with a security guard, fled the scene, and dropped his backpack while the guard attempted to detain him.
Law enforcement later located Neumeyer at a nearby hotel just a few blocks away from the embassy and placed him under arrest, according to a criminal complaint filed in the Eastern District of New York.
